Albert John Henderson (1920-1999) was a judge on the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, the United States Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit and the United States Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit. He served the federal judiciary until his death in 1999.

Judicial nominations and appointments

Northern District of Georgia

Henderson was nominated to the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia by President Lyndon Johnson on September 25, 1968, to a seat vacated by Lewis Morgan; he was confirmed by the Senate on October 10, 1968, and received commission the next day. From 1976-1979, he served as the chief judge. He served the Northern District of Georgia until he was elevated to the Fifth Circuit on July 26, 1979.[1] Henderson was succeeded in this position by Orinda Evans.

Fifth Circuit

Henderson was nominated to the United States Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit by President Jimmy Carter on April 18, 1979, to a new seat created by 92 Stat. 1629; he was confirmed by the Senate on July 12, 1979, and received commission the next day. He served the Fifth Circuit until he was reassigned to the Eleventh Circuit on October 1, 1981.[1]

Eleventh Circuit

Judge Henderson was reassigned to the United States Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit on October 1, 1981. He assumed senior status on January 31, 1986. He served the Eleventh Circuit until his death on May 11, 1999.[1]
