The Oregon Arts Funding Initiative did not appear on the November 2, 2010 statewide ballot in Oregon. The measure, which was not officially filed, could have been proposed as either a legislatively referred state statute or as an initiated state statute. The proposal would have created taxpayer-based funding for the arts.
With the passage of Oregon Ballot Measures 66 and 67 and continued falling revenue for the arts, supporters said they planned to file the arts funding initiative for the 2010 ballot instead of waiting for 2012. According to reports, the idea was initiated by Portland Mayor Sam Adams, Metro Councilor Carlotta Collette and Washington County Commissioner Dick Schouten. Collette and Schouten both served on Creative Advocacy Network, a nonprofit founded to drive the movement for taxpayer-supported arts funding, committees.[1]
As of July 2, the state's petition drive deadline, no signatures were submitted in an effort to qualify the measure for the ballot.
