Agnes nominated to Massachusetts Appeals Court

Boston, Massachusetts: Judge Peter W. Agnes, Jr. was nominated to the Massachusetts Appeals Court by Governor Deval Patrick on August 5, 2011. Agnes, an associate justice of the Superior Court since 2000, will also serve as an associate justice in his new position on the appellate court.
Agnes is a graduate of Boston University (1972) and Suffolk University Law School (1975). He currently teaches as an adjunct professor at the Massachusetts School of Law. Prior to becoming a judge, he worked as an Assistant District Attorney in the counties of Norfolk and Middlesex, served as Chief of Operations to Gov. Dukakis, as an Assistant Secretary of Public Safety, and as the First Justice of the Charlestown District Court from 1991 to 2000. Since June of 2010, he has been the Regional Administrative Judge in Worcester County.
Two other judges were also nominated:
- Brian Lawlor will become the Clerk-Magistrate of the Salem District Court. He has been the Clerk-Magistrate of the Brookline District Court since 2002.
- William Rosen was named the new Hampshire County Register of Probate.
Of the three nominees, Gov. Patrick explained, "They each possess the necessary expertise, intellect and temperament to serve the Commonwealth well in these positions. It is an honor to nominate them and I thank them for their willingness to serve."[1]
