If voted in, these two initiatives will:
  1. Bring the sale of beer and wine to stores.
  2. Bring the sale of mixed drinks to restaurants.

The jurisdiction of these petitions is the Justice of the Peace District 4 Smith County, Texas.

The election will be held on May 9th, 2009.[1]

Proposition 1 was defeated, however Proposition 2 was accepted.[2]

Proposition 1: expands packaged alcohol sales in the county

  • Yes: 1,312 (47.3%)
  • No: 1,461 (52.7%) Defeated

Proposition 2: allows mixed-drink sales in restaurants passed

  • Yes: 1,401 (50.8%) Approved
  • No: 1,358 (49.2%)[3]

National Ballot Access was the signature vendor for the petition drive.
