Utah End Food Taxes Initiative (1990)
From Ballotpedia
The Utah End Food Taxes Initiative appeared on the November 1990 statewide ballot in Utah, where it failed, with 44.2% of voters in favor. It was one of three statewide ballot measures that year in Utah; of these statewide measures, the "End Food Taxes" initiative was the only initiated measure. Had the measure passed, it would have removed state and local sales taxes from food.
The ballot question said:
Shall a law be enacted to remove state and local sales taxes from food, except food prepared for immediate consumption and food sold through vending machines?
