Third party registration groups banned in Wyoming

While third-party registration groups, such as ACORN, have received criticism from around the county, Wyoming officials say they have been able to avoid the chaos, as there groups were banned from the state long ago.[1]
"We're glad"
In discussing the issue, Wyoming chief elections officer Peggy Nighswonger stated, "We're glad we don't allow voter registration drives."[1] She said that, while they have been criticized by voter registration groups, that pales in comparison with the possible extra work needed to verify registrations, which is swamping county clerks across the county.
WY registration
Nighswonger explained that Wyoming also has no "motor voter" system, as it can create problems if the info does not make it to election officials or if it does not exactly match the information on record.
Wyoming has an open voter registration system, a 40 day absentee voting time, and allows people to register on election day. All of this, she stressed, is done through the county clerks office.[1]
