Efforts like this are great inasmuch as they demonstrate the will of (at least some of) the people in the state; it's historic that this is on the ballot in Colorado this year, but I personally expect this issue to be defeated. The state cannot effectively override the US Supreme Court's decision in Roe v. Wade any more than it can allow the city and county of Denver to permit its legalization of marijuana possession.

If a woman has no right to choose in Colorado, there is nothing which stops the same woman from visiting one of the neighboring states where that right is retained. In that regard, this measure provides little more than an annoyance, no matter how charged the debate may be. Okipatrick 22:31, 6 September 2008 (UTC)
