Sam Blakeslee is a Republican member of the California State Assembly, representing the 33rd District. He was first elected to this position in November 2004, and then re-elected in 2006 and 2008. Because of the state's term limits, he will not be able to run again for a seat in the state assembly in 2010.

In early May 2009, it was announced that Blakeslee is likely to take over the leadership position that Michael Villines is leaving.[1]

Blakeslee holds a PhD from the University of California-Santa Barbara. He also has a B.S. and a Masters in Geophysics from the University of California-Berkeley.

Blakeslee is the President of Blakeslee & Blakeslee, investment firm, and a former research scientist/strategic budget planner for Exxon.[2]
