Robert E. Cooper, Jr. is the current Attorney General of the state of Tennessee. Cooper was sworn into office on November 1, 2006. Prior to serving as attorney general, Cooper served as legal counsel to Governor Phil Bredesen from 2003 to 2006. Before 2003, Cooper was a partner at Bass, Berry & Sims, PLC, in Nashville where he specialized in corporate, constitutional and regulatory litigation.
