Prescott Valley Proposition 401 (2009)

A Prescott Valley Home Rule Measure, also known as Prescott Valley Proposition 401, was on the March 10, 2009 ballot in Prescott Valley, Arizona, in Yavapai County.[1]

The measure passed with 81.28% of the vote.[2]Approved

Voters were asked whether to give their leaders the leeway to prepare the budget for the next four years. If voters said "no", the town would have had to set its budget based on the statewide rule.

Impact of "yes" vote

If a majority vote in favor:

  • The town will be able to spend about $63.2 million in the 2009-2010 fiscal year that begins July 1.
  • $64.1 million in 2010-2011.
  • $60.1 million in 2011-2012.
  • $73.5 million in 2012-2013.

Impact of "no" vote

If voters say "no", the state-imposed spending limitation takes effect. This limitation restricts spending to:

  • $43.5 million in 2009-2010.
  • $46.6 million in 2010-2011.
  • $48.8 million in 2011-2012.
  • $54.9 million in 2012-2013.
