Oklahoma State Question 253 (Initiative #176) appeared on the 1940 ballot in Oklahoma. It received 355,431 "Yes" votes and 198,109 "No" votes; however, it required 423,886 "Yes" votes for passage, so it failed.
It was an initiated state statute.
The objective of the measure was to redistribute revenues from various gas- and vehicle-related taxes and fees.
