The Ohio Bottle Deposit Initiative, Issue 1 was on the November 6, 1979 statewide ballot in Ohio, where it was overwhelmingly defeated.
The statement on the ballot was, "To provide mandatory deposits on all bottles and prohibit sale of beverages in metal cans that have detachable pull-tabs."

Opponents spent $1.2 million on their campaign, while supporters spent $117,000.
