Ohio Issue 1, also known as the Denial of Bail in Felony Offenses Act, was on the November 4, 1997 election ballot in Ohio as a legislatively-referred constitutional amendment. It passed, with 73% of voters in favor.
Text of the proposal
The language that appeared on the ballot:
To provide that a court may deny bail to a person charged with a felony offense where the proof is evident or the presumption great that the person committed the offense and that the person poses a substantial risk of serious physical danger to others.
