Object Statement-Nebraska

The object statement, under Nebraska law, is a statement--written by the supporters of a statute or amendment to be proposed by citizen initiative--of what the new law will accomplish if the voters approve it.

Sometimes called a "gist statement", the object statement might best be thought of as a quick summary statement intended to convey to a potential signer of a petition what the ballot measure is all about.
