Professional experience
Prior to her appointment as Secretary of State, Wells served as Vice President of Public Affairs for Schering-Plough Corporation, a pharmaceutical company, in addition to her role as President of the Schering-Plough Foundation, a nonprofit membership corporation established in 1955, dedicated to working with communities to help them realize their full potential and enhance their quality of life through health, education, and community initiatives. She was also assistant dean at the Rutgers School of Law in Newark. Wells' foray into politics before 2006 included roles as Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Newarks Law Department and Division of Rate Counsel for the Department of the Public Advocate.
Family life
Nina Well currently resides in Livingston, New Jersey with her husband, renowned criminal defense lawyer Ted Wells, and their two children - Teresa and Phillip.
