Nebraska Measure 418 was on the November 2, 2004 ballot in Nebraska as a initiated constitutional amendment, where it was approved.[1]
Impact
Successful passage of the amendment means that the Nebraska State Legislature must have a 2/3 majority of its members in order to amend, repeal, modify or impair a law enacted by the people by initiative. Previously, the legislature could alter the people's initiatives with a simple majority vote.
The measure was sponsored by a pro-gambling organization calling itself Keep the Money in Nebraska. The same group sponsored three other initiatives in 2004:
