Nebraska Amendment 2, also known as a constitutional amendment to authorize the use of revenue bonds to develop and lease property for use by nonprofit enterprises as determined by law, was on the November 7, 2002 election ballot in Nebraska. It was defeated, with 40% of voters in favor.
The measure was referred to the ballot by the Nebraska State Legislature.
Text of the proposal
The language that appeared on the ballot:
Amends section 2 of Article XIII of the Nebraska Constitution to permit the Legislature to authorize counties, cities, and villages to acquire, own, develop, lease, and otherwise finance real and personal property to be used by non-profit enterprises. In addition, the Legislature would be empowered to authorize counties, cities and villages to issue revenue bonds for such purposes.
