National Direct Legislation League

The National Direct Legislation League was a New Jersey-based coalition of direct democracy leagues from across the country, active in the late 1890s and early 1900s. See also Direct Legislation League.
It was founded in St. Louis in 1892.
Eltweed Pomeroy, a glue manufacturer and social gospel Protestant, was its first leader.
Anti-socialist labor leader Samuel Gompers was a strong backer of the Direct Legislation League.
