The Maine Legislators in Civil Offices Amendment was on the 1985 ballot in Maine, where it was narrowly defeated.

The amendment was legislatively-referred to the ballot by the Maine Legislature as a proposed addition to the Maine Constitution.

The goal of the unsuccessful amendment was to change the Constitution so members of Legislature could be appointed to civil office as long as they resign from the Legislature upon confirmation.
