John Whitmire has been a Democratic member of the Texas Senate since 1983.
Whitmire graduated with a B.A. in political science from the University of Houston and also attended Bates College of Law at the University of Houston.
In addition to being a senator, Whitmire is also an attorney of counsel at Locke, Liddell and Sapp. Prior to his election to the state senate, Whitmire was a member of the Texas House of Representatives from 1973 to 1982.[1]
