Fillingane served in the Mississippi State House of Representatives from 2000 to 2006. He then joined the Mississippi State Senate in 2008. He has served in that position since, representing the 41st district.
Fillingane was a Law Clerk for the Mississippi Supreme Court from 1998 to 1999. He then worked as an Attorney for the Law Office of William J. Gamble, III, in 1999. He also worked as a Lawyer for Lamar County District Attorney's Office during this time.
Fillingane earned his BS from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1994. He went on to receive his JD from Mississippi College School of Law in 1998.
