A notice of intent to recall California Assemblyman Jim Silva was filed on April 17, 2009, beginning a campaign to remove him from office.[1] The recall effort failed to make the ballot.
Background
Taxpayers United to Recall Jim Silva organized the effort due to frustration with state tax increases. The group claimed that Silva broke his pledge to protect the taxpayers of California when he supported a budget deal to raise taxes throughout the state. According to the group: “The facts speak for themselves. The facts show that Jim Silva betrayed taxpayers by breaking his pledge to oppose tax increases.”
Also among the reasons for recall, according to the group, was Silva's endorsement of Republican Assemblyman Anthony Adams, a strong supporter of tax increases.[2]
