Jim Ott is a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly in the 23rd Assembly District. The District consists of Brown Deer, Meqoun, and select wards in Milwaukee.

Early life and career

Jim was born Milwaukee, June 5, 1947. He is married with 2 sons. He is a graduate from Milwaukee Washington H.S. 1965; holds a B.S. from UW-Milwaukee in 1970; a M.S. from UW-Milwaukee in 1975; and a J.D. Marquette U. from 2000. He was a former broadcast meteorologist and instructor at UW-Parkside. He served in U.S. Army, 1970-73 and is a Vietnam veteran.

Member: State Bar of Wisconsin; American Bar Assn.; American Meteorological Society; Mequon/Thiensville Sunrise Rotary; Mequon/Thiensville Chamber of Commerce; Ozaukee County Republican Party; North Shore Branch Milwaukee Co. Republican Party; Lumen Christi Catholic Church (past parish council pres.). Recipient: National Weather Service Public Service Award 2006; Archbishops Vatican II Service Award 1999; Vietnam Campaign Medal and Meritorious Unit Citation.

Political career

He was elected to Assembly 2006. He currently serves the 23rd assembly district as a full-time legislator.

Issue positions

Ott did not provide answers to the 2008 Political Courage Test. The test provides voters with how a candidate would vote on the issues if elected.[1]
