Jay Tibshraeny has been a Republican member of the Arizona Senate since 2003. He was elected in 2003 to represent the 21st district and has been subsequently re-elected in 2005, 2007, and 2009. He represents the 21st district.

Education

Tibshraeny earned his BS in accounting from Arizona State University.

Professional experience

Tibshraeny is self-employed in property management and citrus growing.

Political experience

Tibshraeny's political experience began with his work as the Planning and Zoning Commissioner for the City of Chandler in 1980. He served in this position until 1986 when he became a council member for the City of Chandler. In 1990, Tibshraeny became Vice Mayor for the City of Chandler. He served as Vice Mayor until 1994. Tibshraeny was elected Mayor of the City of Chandler in 1994 and served as mayor until 2002. He went on to become a senator in 2003. He currently represents the 21st district and is the Senate Majority Whip for the Arizona State Senate.
