The Global Position System Monitoring Study Committee is a standing committee of the Arizona Legislature.

Function

To review issues relating to;

  • (1) the implementation of global position monitoring systems as required;
  • (2) the use of active global position system monitoring compared to the use of passive global position system monitoring and the costs associated with both systems;
  • (3) the types of crimes for which active or passive global position system monitoring should be required;
  • (4) the use of active and passive global position system monitoring in other states;
  • (5) the appropriate staffing levels to administer active or passive global position monitoring;
  • (6) the role of a law enforcement agency in monitoring active or passive global position system monitoring.

The Committee shall submit a written report regarding the Committee's activities and recommendations on or before December 1, 2008 to the Governor, the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and provide a copy of this report to the Secretary of State and the Director of the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records.
