Gary Hooser (b. January 19, 1954) is a Democratic state senator in the Hawaii Senate, representing the 7th district. Hooser is the Senate Majority Leader.
Education
Hooser did Professional Studies in Public Administration. He attended Hawaii Entrepreneur Training and Development Institute in 1978. He went on to receive his AA from Kauai Community College in 1990. He then earned his BA from the University of Hawaii West Oahu in 1996.
Professional experience
Hooser is the founder/owner of Wai'oli Properties, Incorporated. He is also Vice-President of Loomis-ISC. In addition, he is President and co-founder of H and S Publishing.
Political experience
Hooser was on the Kauai County Council from 1998 to 2002. He joined the Hawaii State Senate in 2002 and has served in that position since. He also was a candidate for the United States House of Representatives, District 2, Hawaii, in 2006. He has been Senate Majority Leader since 2007, representing the 7th district.
