Gambling initiatives and ballot measures relate in some way to casino or other games of chance--to authorizing new casinos, making various games of chance legal or illegal and so on.
Gaming measures have appeared on the ballot in states with initiative or referendum.
Petition drives to collect signatures to place these measures on the ballot are virtually never conducted as grassroots efforts; rather, the petition drives are invariably funded as paid petition drives by casino or gaming interests who hope to build and profit from casinos if the voters approve the ballot measures authorizing them.
