In less than nine weeks, nearly 14,000 new voters have registered in Washoe County, Nevada. This brings the total number of registered voters in the county to 226,127.[1] More importantly, the Republicans and Democrats are now tied with 39.7% of registered voters, and that has brought allegations of voter registration fraud.

GOP Questions
Days after the raid on the Las Vegas ACORN office, Heidi Smith, chair of the Washoe County Republican Party, raised questions over the accuracy of the new registrations. She said that the issue first came to her attention after receiving some 15 phone calls from voters concerned because their names were misspelled on voter registration cards, or they had registered Republican but received a Democrat voter card.[1]
Smith stated, “We’re going to request a list of all registered Democrats to check for all the Dallas Cowboys and 49ers and any ‘Sherwin Williams’ or anything out of the ordinary. People went in good faith to register as a Republican, but somewhere between registering and getting their voter card it came out a Democrat. People are pretty P.O.’d about it.”
No reports to the registrar
County Registrar Dan Burk said that he has not received any complaints from voters regarding misspelled names or incorrect party affiliations. He assured voters that any errors would be checked out if they contact him.
Burk said, "We want to go back to the original form and see if it’s a clerical error, or if someone is marking it in for them.” If a pattern of wrong party affiliations emerges, a full investigation would begin.
At the August 12 primary, Republicans led Democrats in voter registration by 5,648. They saw this fall to the current number of 105.
