The Florida Sales Tax Exemption Initiative is an initiative effort underway in Florida.
The initiative proposes a new constitutional amendment and is aimed at the November 2008 Florida ballot.
Wording for the initiative was filed by John McKay, who is the chairperson of the sponsoring organization, Floridians Against Inequities in Rates (FAIR).
611,009 valid signatures will be required in order for the initiative to make the ballot.
Objective of the initiative:
Each law granting an exemption to the sales tax shall contain a legislative determination that such exemption advances or serves a public purpose and shall contain the single subject of a single exemption.
