Elaine Alquist (b. 1944) is a Democratic member of the California State Senate. She represents California's 13th Senate District.
Alquist was first elected to the California State Senate in 2004 and was then re-elected in 2008. When her current four-year term expires in 2012, she will not be able to run for re-election because of California's term limits.
Prior to joining the state senate, Alquist was a member of the California State Assembly from 1997-2002. She also served on the Cupertino Union School Board from 1983-1991.

California Senate District 13 is located entirely within Santa Clara County. It includes the municipalities of Gilroy, Mountain View, Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, Alum Rock, Buena Vista, Burbank, East Foothills, Seven Trees, Sunol (midtown) and parts of San Jose.[4]
