David O'Connell (b. June 3, 1940) is a Democrat member of the North Dakota Senate, representing District 6.

Education

O'Connell earned his AA from Minot State University-Bottineau in 1960.

Professional experience

O'Connell was an Engineering Aid in 1958. He was a Foreman/Operating Engineer from 1961 to 1963. He worked as an Airfield Clearing Operator in 1979. He has been President of North Central Electric from 1980 to the present. He has also worked as Director at Sunprarie Grain since 1990.

Political experience

O'Connell was a Township Supervisor in 1965. He served in the North Dakota State House from 1983 to 1988. He joined the North Dakota State Senate in 1989 and has served in that position since. He is currently Senate Minority Leader, representing the 6th district.

Personal life

O'Connell and his wife Ann have three children.
