Badge requirements
From Ballotpedia
Badge requirements are state laws mandating that petition circulators wear a badge when they engage in the process of signature collection giving information about the circulator.
Some states have passed laws requiring that circulators wear badges with their names, or names and addresses. Other states have passed laws requiring that paid circulators wear a badge stating that they are paid.
In Buckley v. American Constitutional Law Foundation, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld a Tenth Circuit Court decision invalidating a Colorado badge law, stating:
District Court found from evidence ACLF presented that compelling circulators to wear identification badges inhibits participation in the petitioning process.
