Proposition 304 appeared on the November 2002 ballot in Arizona. It failed, with 391,902 in favor and 771,274 opposed. The measure was referred to the ballot by the "Commission on Salaries for Elective State Officers", a commission that had been created by the Arizona State Legislature to make recommendations about state legislative salaries.
Had the measure not failed overwhelmingly, it would have increased the salary of state legislators to $36,000.
