The Nevada ACLU has sent a letter to the Justice Department asking them to help make sure that voters abroad from Washoe County, Nevada have their votes counted. Concern arose after the group received three complaints from voters about delays in absentee ballots.[1]

Officials unconcerned

Dan Burk, Washoe County registrar, said that absentee ballots were mailed out beginning in October. The delay occurred because legal cases over proposed ballots were still being decided by the courts. Burk also added that there is also the opportunity to vote by fax.

That reply has not reassured the ACLU. Lee Rowland, in composing the letter, said, "With only a week left before the election, anyone overseas who has not yet received a requested ballot and who is without access to a fax machine has essentially zero chance of having their vote counted."[1]
